Playing sound on two soundcards simultaneously
Entry Nr. 2875, by user 1
I recently bought an Audioengine W3 usb soundcard that can broadcast the audio to multiple receivers. I would like to send music over the air and simultaneously have it play on my internal soundcard.

On Debian 6 and 7, I got it working like this:

1) apt-get install pulseaudio paprefs pavucontrol
2) reboot
3) As the user that started gnome, start paprefs and activate simultaneous output
4) start the music in Totem
5) As the user that started gnome, start pavucontrol and set the simultaneous output for Totem.

On Linux Mint 13 I was not so lucky:

When rebooting, pulse is not running and I find this in the syslog:

W: [pulseaudio] pid.c: Stale PID file, overwriting.
W: [pulseaudio] module.c: module-combine is deprecated: Please use module-combine-sink instead of module-combine!
W: [pulseaudio] module-combine.c: We will now load module-combine-sink. Please make sure to remove module-combine from your configuration.
Killed

Seems to be this problem:
